Toni's Kitty Rescue is a 501(c)3 rescue organization that works with Animal Care & Control to provide foster care for abandoned and orphaned underage kittens. Please call (415) 554-9414 to reserve a spot in an ACC New Volunteer Orientation if you are interested in becoming a foster kitten volunteer during the 2010 Kitten Season. Foster parents care for kittens -- in their own homes -- until they are ready to be adopted. Fostering kittens is a great way for kids too young to volunteer at the shelter to learn about aniaml welfare and earn community service credit. Kittens pictured on this page are currently in foster care, and some may not be ready for adoption. All kittens listed as Male or Female will be neutered or spayed before going home.

'Kitten Season' starts each year in early Spring and runs through late Fall. During that time, mother cats all over the city give birth to countless litters -- and many of these underage kittens end up at Animal Care & Control, abandoned or orphaned. The Animal Care & Control Kitten Foster Parents care for these kittens, in their homes, until they reach an adoptable age or weight. This past year, the Animal Care & Control Foster Parents successfully raised and adopted out over 900 kittens! Animal Care & Control appreciates donations blankets, towels, heating pads and dog kennels/crates to assist the foster program. If you are interested in fostering kittens, please e-mail tmsestak@hotmail.com

June is the last of her sisters to find a home but she is a first-prize kitten in every way. Her soft black kitten fur has a little gray peeping through. She socializes well with grown cats and nice dogs. She likes children and patiently allows them to carry her around. June likes to play as much as the next kitten, but she is at heart a lap cat who will keep your feet warm and your spirit even warmer on cold San Francisco nights. RUBY

Kitten

Name: Al & Ruby
ID: A274919 & A274918

Age: 5 – 6 months old

Sex: Neutered male, Spayed female
Date: 4/16/2010

Description: Al & Ruby are two orange tabby teenagers (around 5 - 6 months old) who were deathly ill feral kittens when we got them three months ago.  Now, Al and Ruby are healthy, frisky kitties who will jump up on the couch, purring, for lap time with familiar humans.  They happily play with our four adult cats, but are very attached to each other - we'd like to see them adopted together.  They should be in a home with adults or teens who aren't inclined to grab them or try to pick them up - they still are frightened by quick moving hands/being followed.  They are extremely playful, talkative (but not whiny), and love to play with bouncy balls and toy mice which they carry proudly around the house.  We have kept them in foster care so we would like to show them at our house.  They are already "fixed" and are up to date on their shots.

Please contact their foster parents for more info and to meet Al & Ruby:  Barbara at 333-5857 or Den at (510) 759-0313
