Toni's Kitty Rescue

Foster2 Foster Mom Naomi 51606 Foster1 Foster Mom Linda 51606

Toni's Kitty Rescue is a 501(c)3 rescue organization that works with Animal Care & Control to provide foster care for abandoned and orphaned underage kittens. Please call (415) 554-9414 to reserve a spot in an ACC New Volunteer Orientation if you are interested in becoming a foster kitten volunteer during the 2010 Kitten Season. Foster parents care for kittens -- in their own homes -- until they are ready to be adopted. Fostering kittens is a great way for kids too young to volunteer at the shelter to learn about aniaml welfare and earn community service credit. Kittens pictured on this page are currently in foster care, and some may not be ready for adoption. All kittens listed as Male or Female will be neutered or spayed before going home.

'Kitten Season' starts each year in early Spring and runs through late Fall. During that time, mother cats all over the city give birth to countless litters -- and many of these underage kittens end up at Animal Care & Control, abandoned or orphaned. The Animal Care & Control Kitten Foster Parents care for these kittens, in their homes, until they reach an adoptable age or weight. This past year, the Animal Care & Control Foster Parents successfully raised and adopted out over 900 kittens! Animal Care & Control appreciates donations blankets, towels, heating pads and dog kennels/crates to assist the foster program. If you are interested in fostering kittens, please e-mail tmsestak@hotmail.com

Beautiful King Pigeons!

Animal Care & Control usually has beautiful King Pigeons available for adoption. These birds, besides being gorgeous, are sweet, docile, and can make excellent companion birds. Many of the King Pigeons that find their way to us come from live food markets and sad situations. Please consider adding one of these lovely creatures to your family. Chinchilla Rescue

Animal Care & Control recently received a large number of chinchillas. These chins are now in foster homes thanks to California Chins - a non-profit chinchilla rescue and education group.

If you are interested in adopting a chinchilla, please visit the California Chins website at www.cachins.org
