We do our best to update these pages regularly, but we can not guarantee that every animal shown here will be available when you visit our shelter. If a dog is marked "Now At The SF SPCA" there is still a chance to adopt him/her. Please call the San Francisco SPCA at (415) 554-3000 for more information.
If a dog is listed as female or male, s/he will need to stay for spay/neuter surgery before going home. Dogs already altered are listed as spayed females or neutered males and can go home immediately.
Would you like to help us with our shelter dogs? Consider volunteering! It's the next best thing to having a dog! As a volunteer, you can walk and socialize dogs like the ones you see here. If you're over 18 and ready for a volunteer commitment, call (415) 554-9414 and reserve a space in an upcoming 'New Volunteer Orientation' session.

Description: Special Adoption: Chica is a sweet and gentle girl who's always ready to say "hi" and make new friends, then settle in for some petting. This lovely lady hasn't had an easy life: she's underweight, has some skin inflammation, and has clearly been bred. Chica doesn't let the past get her down: she loves people and loves life! Her skin inflammation is probably from a flea allergy, which should clear up and is currently being treated. She'll need to stay on strict flea control in her future home. Chica also has some very worn down teeth, some of which may need to be extracted. She's looking for a home with loving adopters who will monitor her skin and take care of her teeth. This fluffy cutie loves to play with toys and has a blast playing fetch. Shadow has luxating patellas, which means his kneecaps move out of their normal positions sometimes. This doesn't seem to be causing any problems right now, but there is a possibility that the condition could progress and he might need surgery in the future. He also has a little excessive tearing from his eyes, but that doesn't seem to be causing him any problems. He's looking for adopters who will take him to the vet if he develops any lameness or problems with his eyes, such as redness.
